Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information MATCHORA collects when you create a profile, how it's used, who it's shared with, and how long it's kept. It applies to everyone who creates a profile on matchora.in.

You provide this directly when you build your profile:

• Your phone number, verified by a one-time code, plus a password you set for day-to-day sign-in afterward.
• Basic details: name, date of birth, gender, marital status, religion, caste, mother tongue, city, and country.
• Photos you upload.
• Horoscope details: rasi, natchathiram, gothram, birth time, and birth place.
• Background details: income range, employment type and sector, whether you own a home/car/land, existing loans, siblings, family type, native place, marriage timeline, smoking/drinking habits, weekly off days, passive income, and any health information you choose to add.
• Your partner preferences, including which of the above are must-haves for you.
• Basic technical data (like IP address and timestamps) generated automatically when you use the site.

Your basic details, rasi, and natchathiram appear in match results shown to opposite-gender members once your profile is published. Your background answers and preferences feed our matching engine, which scores two things separately: how well your stated preferences and qualifying answers line up with another member's (expectation match), and a simplified horoscope compatibility check (porutham match) — this is not a substitute for a full jatakam reading by a professional astrologer.

Your photo and phone number are visible to any other member whose account has been approved (see §6 of our Terms of Service for how approval works) — every photo is watermarked with the viewer's identity when shown, so it's traceable back to whoever viewed it. Your details are withheld from any member whose account isn't yet approved. This is enforced on our server — nothing is sent to a browser signed in as an unapproved account.

We use a small number of service providers to run MATCHORA:

• SendGrid — delivers the one-time codes used to sign in and recover a forgotten password, plus notification emails (profile approvals, interest received, payment confirmations), and receives your email address for that purpose.
• 2Factor.in — delivers the optional phone-verification code if you choose to verify your number for the “Phone verified” badge, and receives your phone number only if you opt into that feature.
• Neon and Render — host our database and application. Your data is stored on their infrastructure on our behalf.

Payment for account approval and for astrologer porutham reviews is by UPI, paid directly to MATCHORA's own UPI ID — no third-party payment processor is involved, so no payment data is shared with anyone beyond your own bank/UPI app and MATCHORA. A payment reference and, if you choose to attach one, a screenshot of your payment confirmation are used only to verify and approve that specific payment.

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone else for marketing purposes.

A profile is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity — meaning 90 days since you last logged in or edited it. Logging in or editing your profile at any point resets that window, so an account you actually use never expires. If your profile lapses, you can always create a new one with the same phone number.

You can delete your profile at any time from the “Danger zone” section of your profile page. This permanently removes your horoscope details, background answers, preferences, and photos. Your phone number itself stays registered so you can sign back in and start fresh — to remove that too, contact us.

MATCHORA confirms each account with a one-time code and displays the details each member chooses to share. We do not run independent background checks, identity verification, or horoscope authentication. Please verify details yourself before proceeding with any match.

Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text. Signup and password recovery both use a one-time code sent to your email rather than your password itself, so a leaked code expires quickly and can't be reused. We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data you give us, but no online service can guarantee perfect security.

MATCHORA is for adults at or above India's legal marriageable age (18 for women, 21 for men), which we check against the date of birth you provide before a profile can be created.

You can edit your profile at any time, and delete it at any time. For anything else — questions about your data, or a request to remove your phone number entirely — email us at hello@matchora.in.

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
